Changes

I also forgot to mention that instead of the initial plan of putting one tablespoons of sugar in 1L of water, I have changed it to 50g of sugar to be added. One was waay too little :)

Method

1) Sow the soil and be left with a 45cm x 1m rectangular area.
2) Dig four, 3cm deep, identical holes in the soil.
3) Place up to 4 seeds in each hole.
4) Cover up holes with soil.
5) Once covered up, water the whole area with normal tap water.
6) According to instructions on the packet, do not water until seedlings appear, which will be around within a week.
7) Once seedlings appear, prepare 2x 1L of water with one tablespoon of sugar and 2 x 1L with just water.
8) Water two of the seedlings with the 2 x 1L of just water and water the remaining two with the 2 x 1L of water with one tablespoon.
9) Record observations and changes.

I haven't mentioned

I have been posting for sometime and have neglected to mention my details about my experiment.

Aim: To determine whether sugar water affects the growth of peas.

Controlled variables: the same location, same type of plant, same amount of water given to plant, amount of sugar in water given to plant, time of exposure to sunlight
Independent variables- the amount of water, amount of sugar in water, sunlight
Dependent variable- rate of growth of plants

Criteria

Checked my email, weeks ago, but just thought I would like to put down the criteria just for future reference or something.
1. Climate graph
2. Activeness on blog (....)
3. Appropriate method

There we go! :)

Climate graph

I keep putting this off but here is the climate graph:

Sorry, it's so hard to read!

Finally

On Friday or the weekends, I finally planted my seeds! These are the steps in which it happened:

First thing first: That was the soil of grass before everything started.

The perfect patch of grass then got sowed into this...

I know, picture looks really dodgy, and the soil looks different, but I blame it on the lighting. There, it has been sowed into four different holes.

If you look carefully in another one of these dodgy photos, I have placed few of the seeds in the inconspicuous four holes.

The packet said that further watering should not be required until seedlings have appeared. It also said that this will happen within a week, so I just few more days to wait...

New ones!

Last week, around about when, I have no idea but, I finally bought new seeds. I was going to use my daisy seeds remember? Well, me being me, I lost them, so had to find a new one. I bought pea seeds instead!

i have to find it

First of all, i have to find my seeds. i really do. They're in my room somewhere, i'm sure. If I can't find them soon, I shall buy some, but probably not daisies. I read on this website: http://www.gardenersnet.com/flower/daisy.htm that they are hard to grow and may take some time to grow. Time is of the essence so another type of flower it is!

im ready, i think.

So, I asked Ms Zhang about my idea. She told me something completely different to what I was going to do. Something about way too much variables. (Yes, Ms Zhang, I WAS listening at the time...) Oh, I remember I'm using sugar water to grow them. Anyways, I also remember, something about the percentage from 10% gradually decreasing to 1%, each day.

Hmm, so I basically, am to grow these seeds with sugar water and slowly each time I add the sugar water, it will be decreasing in amount. I shall also go and research on the effects of sugar water.

Yay, now i have to find my daisy seeds, find what I am actually supposed to do with the practical and I'm ready to roll!

at this time and place.

Right now, i think i have one idea?
Well, the idea is to grow daisies, because you see, I have daisy seeds which I got for free from this random Sportsgirl store.
And I don't really do much for nature, so I thought I might as well take some.

So, I have on idea on what I'm going to do with the daisies:
  • going to grow them with different kinds of water. Like sugar water, salt water, normal tap water and tonic water

But I'm not sure, if that's going to be approved of by Ms Zhang.

So yes, Ms Zhang, your firm of approval, then, I'm off :)

Hopefully I get it, that is.
